Bike Blended Hot Frothy Time!

Now that it’s wintertime, you might not be as excited to sip a cold icy smoothie. So here at Rock the Bike we’ve come up with a few ideas to keep you warm with blended holiday treats!

Morning Drinks:

The first thing that comes to mind when I think warm, blended morning drinks is the bulletproof trend that has become so popular recently on the west coast.

Bullet Proof Peppermint Mocha

  • 2 cups raw whole milk (*or coconut milk or almond milk)
  • 2 cups coffee (strong, freshly brewed )
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • (optional protein boost) one tbsp of collagen or grass-fed gelatin powder

1.     Add all ingredients into the blendtec or vitamix blender (not recommended for our Oster style pitchers) and blend!!

If coffee too much for you try a bullet proof Matcha Latte, follow the above recipe, replacing the coffee with hot water and replace the cocoa powder with Matcha powder!!

Or try a caffeine-free, anti-inflammatory option with a Golden Milk Chai Frothy!

  • 1 tbsp of turmeric powder
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 12 oz of hot water
  • 4 oz of almond milk
  • Tbsp grass-fed butter or coconut oil
  • Pinch of cinnamon, cardamon, and nutmeg

Blend in your blender and enjoy!!

Oaty Mocha Hot Frothy

This Oaty Mocha Hot Smoothie is one of my favorite hot smoothies.  It’s Comforting, tasty and packed full of nutrients, this HOT smoothie is perfect for those colder months.

  • 15 g (0.5oz – about 4 small chunks) dark chocolate, chopped (check the brand for gluten free if required)
  • 240 ml (1 cup milk) unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 oz shot of espresso or 1 tsp instant coffee granules mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp rolled oats check the brand for gluten free if required
  • ½ a ripe medium sized banana
  • 8 hazelnuts
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp maca powder optional
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Add the dark chocolate to a jug, pour in the milk and the espresso. Microwave until the mixture is warm and the chocolate has melted (you can do this in a pan if you prefer).
Place the oats, banana, hazelnuts, chia seeds, maca powder, the water and approx. a fifth of the milk mixture to your blender. Add in an extra splash of cold water if you think the liquid is too warm (see warning above about hot liquids and smoothie makers).
Blend for a minute until the oats and chia seeds have been completely incorporated.
Whilst it’s blending, further heat the rest of the milk mixture until hot, but not boiling.
Pour the blended oat mix into your cup, stir in the milk/chocolate mix and serve.
