What kind of vehicle should I use to transport the Pro frame?

What kind of vehicle should I use to transport the Pro frame?

Most hatchback style cars can usually fit at least one partially disassembled Pro frame inside. You’ll want to use a car with a large trunk; it’s even better if the back seats fold down to extend the trunk space.

A pickup truck can carry 2-4 fully built Pro frames in the bed. Most SUVs can carry a single Pro frame in the trunk with no disassembly. Smaller cars may probably require some small adjustments or disassembly such as lowering the handlebars, dropping the saddle, or removing the crossbar to fit in the trunk or back seat.

Most vehicles can fit 2 bike blenders with small adjustments or disassembly. We will provide the hex wrenches you’ll need to reassemble the bike again at your destination.

Any car will work if you’re using a regular bike rack.

A roof rack can help if you want to use a small car and don’t want to do any disassembly. Here’s a photo to show roof rack use and size comparison.

We encourage you to try bike towing with your rental bike. It’s fun, safe, practical and reduces the carbon footprint of your event, and there is no disassembly required! Any bicycle with a rear rack can tow the Fender Blender Pro. There is no extra rental charge for the trailer wheels and hitch, or you can purchase the Tow Kit to travel with your bike blender.

Chagdud Gonpa Foundation Satisfied with Ice Cream Bike Pro

Chagdud Gonpa Foundation Satisfied with Ice Cream Bike Pro

Chagdud Gonpa Foundation is an international Nyingma Buddhist organization, founded in 1983 by H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche (1930-2002), a highly revered meditation master, artist and Tibetan physician who taught extensively in the East and West. Through its many activities, which include offering public teachings and retreats, translating, and publishing texts, Chagdud Gonpa Foundation upholds and preserves the arts, philosophy, and meditation practices of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.

The main seat of CGF in North America is located in Junction City, CA at a center named Rigdzin Ling.  This summer we wanted to have public outreach with the local community and, with bike culture flourishing, what more of a fun and exciting opportunity could it be to offer the Rock The Bike “Ice Cream Bike Pro” at local events?  The main event for showcasing the bike was at a local music festival that has been ongoing for nearly 20 years in the small town of less than 700 residents that is shared by our center.  The festival also showcased a pedal-powered stage which, by pure coincidence, was also designed and created by Rock The Bike.  In addition to the main event, we brought the Ice Cream Bike Pro to our local Farmers’ Market for five weeks, and also to our local monthly Art Walk.  At each of these events, we provided a booth with literature about upcoming retreats and teachings at Rigdzin Ling and let the Ice Cream Bike Pro draw people in.

We were successful with our outreach.  We made positive connections with new people visiting the center and attending retreats and teachings.  Making these appearances locally communicated that our center is a public entity that welcomes visitors.  The Ice Cream Bike Pro could very well be the coolest thing that folks in this part of the country have seen, and we are thrilled to have made the decision to purchase one for one of the main seats of CGF in South America, at a center named Odsal Ling just outside of Sau Paulo, Brasil!  I hope that this helps bike culture flourish in South America and I am so happy to be a part of spreading pedal-power starting from my chance encounters with Rock The Bike in the Bay Area at local bike events to the extent of places in which our Buddhist activity flourishes.

Toasted Almond Sorbet Recipe

Aug 14, 2012Posted by in Ice Cream Bike, Ice Cream Bike Pro Pedal Powered Ice Cream Maker, Icycleta Ice Cream Bike Attachment for Fender Blender Pros | Comments Off on Toasted Almond Sorbet Recipe

Toasted Almond Sorbet Recipe

Above: A pint or two of Coconut Almond Sorbet at the right consistency.

Sorbet is a delicious vegan treat with lower fat than traditional ice cream. Below you will find a no-cook recipe to make 1 gallon of Toasted Almond Sorbet. Depending on your serving sizes, you can serve anywhere between 128 1 oz. servings and 32 4 oz. servings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 – 32 oz. cartons unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 quarts water
  • 4 cups sugar (1 32 oz. bag)
  • 5 Tbsp vanilla
  • 9 – 8 oz. bags of toasted almonds (can also substitute 72 oz shredded unsweetened coconut)

The combined cost is roughly $40. If you sell 4 oz. servings at $4 each you could profit $88! If you use a cheaper nut than toasted almond, then you can cut your costs in half and increase profit to $100!

Additional Things You’ll Need:

A large spoon for mixing, serving bowls, ice, salt, and an ice cream scoop.

How To Make Sorbet:

Stir all ingredients together and pour into your pre-frosted canister (or pour into the canister and stir if you’re at an event). Secure the canister into the oak tub, and surround with ice and salt. Attach the slip-proof belt and begin to pedal your Ice Cream Bike Pro or Icycleta Ice Cream Attachment for roughly 20 minutes until solidified. Serve immediately, or pack and store to make more firm.
